The story of PR Motorsports truly has its roots in car performance and racing. While our primary day-to-day focus is standard auto repair, service and maintenance, our real beginnings came from the track.
In 1980 a young man (founder and owner Rick Weldon) decided to follow his dream – sports car racing – and took the first step by getting his SCCA license, resulting in his winning San Diego Region SCCA’s Rookie of the Year award that same year. This was to be the beginning of a successful and colorful racing history that continues to this very day. At that time he also realized that most auto repair businesses don’t typically apply the same level of thoroughness, focus and professionalism to their craft as race mechanics – and that this was a need to be filled. This was when PR Motorsports was born.
